An emotion that can grasp us with its all consuming tongue licking out at others. Someone makes a promise and breaks it. A best friend or family member betrays you. We witness injustice and are unable to make things right. Someone receives the promotion you have been working toward for years, and on and on it goes. There is a never ending supply of reasons, but we do have choices.

ANGER or not? ANGER raises the blood pressure, constricts the stomach muscles causing digestive issues leading to emotional distress. It saps our energy and steals our joy. Ephesians 4. Perfection for us is impossible to achieve. Our Lord Jesus is the only perfect one. So my friends, what shall it be? With you all things are possible. Does it really matter?

What is it anyway? Let me ask you this. How does it feel to you to be told you are appreciated? Does a thank you now and then make you feel valued? How about when you tell someone thank you and you leave them with a smile? I guess the answer is it matters a great deal and it is very important. James tells us to count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

And let steadfastness have its effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Now that certainly can be quite the challenge, but God wants us to be thankful and joyful no matter what is happening just as Jesus was when he prayed for Lazarus to live in John when they took away the stone.

Psalm says Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. This happened to Jesus when He was asked to heal the ten lepers. Luke tells us only one of them came back praising God in a loud voice. Luke goes on to say this same man threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked Him.

Where were the other nine? God loves it when we show appreciation to Him and each other. What we do with this knowledge as we journey through life is up to us. Cultivating this habit produces an abundant crop. Psalm says Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His love endures forever. Thank you our dear God for all that you are, and to all of you reading this. We know that not all events in our lives are joyful, however, even the tough memories have purpose such as a life lesson necessary for our future growth.

All of our experiences make up the fabric of our lives and who we are. Lamentations says This I recall to my mind, therefore, I have hope. The Lords lovingkindnesses indeed never cease. For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness. Have you ever made a promise, but then forgot? Surely someone was disappointed at the very least. It was not your intent, but you forgot. I truly did forget. As I matured, I began to be more responsible about making promises. With Gods help I became vigilant over what I promised. We all sometimes forget, but there is one who never forgets.

Isaiah says can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you.

The Gift of Healing - Gifts God Gives - #3 - Pastor John Lindell

When I read this scripture the first time, I was comforted beyond measure. I hope it does the same for you. Nice to know, right? I love the way God assures us because He knows confusion and doubt are tools of the evil one. So when Jesus had His last meal with His disciples, He did an amazing thing for each of us by saying these precious words. No confusion, no doubt, no evil.

Then they believed the scriptures and the words that Jesus had spoken. So here we are today. The dictionary definition of WATER tells us it is colorless, transparent, odorless tasteless liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers and rain and is the basis of the fluids of living organisms.

Have you ever been thirsty? You become focused on getting a drink. Then there can be too much WATER with hurricanes, tsunamis or other severe weather events causing flooding. Rain or not? Storm or not? Genesis further tells us that now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the WATER. Just think about the God we love and trust! He not only created all that exists, providing for all our physical needs, but He Spiritually provides for us as well. Psalm says Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who provides rain for the earth, Who makes grass to grow on the mountains?

Praise you God for this spectacular invitation. The dictionary definition of OBEY is to comply with the command, direction or request of a person or law. Submit to authority, carry out, behave in accordance with a general principal, natural law. Get to work or school on time.

Leave the paper clips or rubber bands in your desk drawer at work. Do what the supervisor or teacher tells us to do. Be kind to others. Respect our elders. Tell the truth. Ever go over the speed limit? Do you know anyone who has driven while intoxicated? We have heard about those who fudge on their tax returns? How about bullying, domestic abuse, adultery? When we were children it was made very clear to us that we must OBEY the rules set down by those caring for us.

Please and thank you. Teacher is right. Mother and father have last word. At some point if we become parents, the process starts all over again with us now leading, teaching, guiding, counseling. Proverbs says whoever heeds discipline shows the way of life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. Have you ever thought God was nudging you to do the right thing? Do what it says. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go. What a blessing!! Revelation says This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep His commands and remain faithful to Jesus.

So Jesus seems to be the key to unlock the treasure chest of prosperity, knowledge and protection. When we were children, parents, teachers, pastors, etc. No worries for us!! Follow the rules and everything will be okay. We enjoyed security and protection while in their loving care. And so it is with our Heavenly Father. Psalm says Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore, will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

Set us on high!! Yes or no? But there is one who is always ABLE. Nothing is too hard for You. Perhaps we are tempted to anger, gossip, worry, fear, or jealousy. Also, so that you will be ABLE to endure. God shows us how to resist and overcome temptation. God can do more than we can imagine with His power working in us. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence. LACK — How many times and reasons in our lives have we been short or in need of something? Perhaps knowledge, help, support, encouragement, peace.

Others feel LACK if they remain single. As humans we often focus on the LACK in our lives. What would life look and feel like if we thought about our blessings instead? The work the Egyptians forced on the Israelites was evil in motive and cruel in nature. Work in and of itself is not wrong, but the extreme harshness was turned into a misery and oppression. We can all agree that these were a people experiencing LACK.

But we are starving out here, and the only food we have is this manna. God blessed them with freedom, yet they focused on their LACK. How often do we find LACK in the middle of our blessings? Our thoughts can become clouded and we miss what God is doing on our behalf for our well being. He knows you're going through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord Your God has been with you. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Dictionary definition of PRIEST — One authorized to perform the sacred rites of a religion especially as a mediator agent between humans and God, a man or woman of God.

Hard to believe! Primarily we connect people to our Heavenly Father through prayer, sacrifice and witness. We spend time praying for our spouses, children, parents, friends, co-workers etc. Our prayers are important. As witnesses we share love and joy. God can be seen through and in us as we reach out to others. We are also called as Jesus was to self-sacrifice. When we watch parents set themselves and their wants aside for their children, we get a good picture of Jesus. Fulfilling this call is a process. We become participants not spectators. We participate when we act, serve, share, regularly pray, and study scripture.

As our testimony grows we share it with others. We ask that your heavenly grace will give us all we need to fulfill your call. Dictionary definition of CALLING — A strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action especially when accompanied by conviction of divine influence, mission, career, vocation, summons. We were chosen before the foundation of the world. In a world of judgement, criticism, and fault finding, this is awesome news. You and I, how fabulous!

Now that is special!! What an invitation! What could be better than this? You and I and Jesus, together. How exciting, and think of the possibilities. Pray and expect great things. Work, live and love, with abilities we can only dream of. Our successes are endless with Jesus as our partner. Our health is blessed, our work and activities reach high levels of success. We are able to love one another with love that is generous and forgiving. You see, God never asks us to follow Him without blessing us beyond anything we can ask or imagine.

He also gives us a way to follow His lead. We must never boast in our own success and accomplishments, but give glory to our one and only true God. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. You have blessed us and we are grateful beyond measure. Parents, teachers, friends, leaders of churches, military personnel, firefighters, police. What does it look and feel like when we witness someone with unwavering faith in God? We see life throw them challenges that we think we could never handle, yet they keep believing in His goodness and love.

We wonder how they do it. What should we do? James says, Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting SHADOW. We thank you God, as we praise Your Holy Name. Why are you disturbed within me? The absence of Hope causes us great deep pain. Think of all the depressed people in this world. Anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications are commonly consumed.

Perhaps people feel overwhelmed, hopeless and deeply unhappy. Perhaps they are missing an essential eternal truth. What might that eternal truth be? Instead, go into prayer mode. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. For you have died, and your life has been safely guarded by the Messiah in God.

Praise His Holy Name. Thinking of WAR causes us angst, fear and dread. There have been WARS since the beginning of time and they are endless. Look back at 2 Chronicles when Judah was invaded. This scripture says that while singing and praising, the Lord set ambushes against the enemy. How awesome is that? Singing and praising God gives us the ability to win against the enemy. But do we remember this bit of wisdom often enough to save ourselves stress and loss. The story of Job causes us mixed emotions.

At first glance it looks as if Job has been abandoned by God, to the devil, but we later learn that not to be true. Somehow, Job knew in his heart that God held him secure through all of his loss and hardship. That God would never allow the enemy to have full control.

The enemy does not have the final say over our lives. Oh, we may face battles and attacks, like Job did, but we can trust in our Mighty God to be our defender through it all leading us to a sure victory. Evil will not stick around if we are praising and singing about God, who will fight our battles for us. When we belong to Christ the enemy never has the final word over our lives. So press on — courageous and free — The battle belongs to the Lord, and He has the final victory. So God is in our praises and singing. Our God never loses. He always wins the battle. Dictionary definition of KEYS — A small piece of shaped metal with incisions cut to fit the wards of a particular lock, which is inserted into a lock and turned to open or close.

KEYS and locks, all used to protect us and our property. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. The nature of that power and authority varies depending on the context. Galatians speaks of being justified by faith in Jesus Christ and not by observing the law. We are the you, because we believe in the gospel and Jesus Himself.

Romans says. Power and authority in our hand. Turn the KEY, and walk through the door. I will not leave you as orphan; I will come to you. What does it feel like? Perhaps we face surgery that is so risky the outcome is questionable. We wish we had just one person by our side. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Who is the Spirit of Truth? He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.

When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. Jesus died to leave us the Advocate, the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit who will live in us forever. We are blessed with such a wondrous gift. What does it feel like to be WEAK? Perhaps recovering from a long severe illness may leave us feeling frail, fragile and WEAK causing the need for us to eat good healthy food and lots of rest in order to restore us to wellness.

Extreme exertion such as running long distance, or working extremely hard can make us feel WEAK sapping our physical strength requiring us to rest. We spend so much wasted time trying to be strong. Think of David, just a young boy, small and not very strong, who used a stone and a sling shot to slay the giant. What about the small boy with only 2 fish and 2 loaves of bread, who gave all he had to Jesus who then fed The Bible tells us that it pleases God to use what the world considers WEAK, foolish, base, and despised to bring to nothing things that are mighty.

The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? God made it all possible. But the wicked shall be silent in darkness.

For by strength no man shall prevail. He is our everything! All you need is faith. Sometimes with tender attention they can be fixed. But take heart, I have overcome the world. Guilt, shame, health issues, financial issues, relational issues, even spiritual issues. Isaiah encourages us this way. Then there is Peter. He wept bitterly, Luke , and goes on to greater power than ever. Take heart!! The Almighty sees us with purpose, no matter what state we are in. We must always remember the cloud, the grain, the bread, the alabaster box. Thank you good and gracious God. Dictionary definition of SLEEP — A condition of body and mind such as that which typically recurs for several hours every night, in which the nervous system is relativity inactive, the eyes closed, the postural muscles relaxed and consciences practically suspended.

The time we look forward to when we are weary — what we pray our babies and small children will do often and for a period of time. Why not? For the children there may be many reasons starting with hunger or being wet, or from being over excited. Adults may have worries, anxiety levels too high, thoughts that do not stop, or just too much to do. Are you kidding? How can that be? Jesus believed that the Father would take care of everything, He need not worry.

We, on the other hand, think that somehow if we stay awake, wring our hands, walk the floor, worry and fret, we can stop the storm. Tell me, can we stop the storm? Can we really solve our problems? Can staying awake solve or fix or calm our storms? And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is always watching out for us. Everything will be alright! Your love, devotion and faithfulness to us, we are ever grateful.

Dictionary definition of WAIT — stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens, stand-by, be patient. In the check out line, frustrated? Stuck in a traffic jam, with no place to go? Medical tests that cause us stress and worry?

We WAIT for the weather to change or for the storm to pass. We WAIT for that next raise or promotion at work. It sets our teeth on edge even at the mention of the word WAIT. For the Lord is a God of justice. He yearns to be gracious, compassionate and just as He blesses us. Just be still, WAIT!! And I just love this. We not only have to WAIT but be patient as well. What a tough challenge!! God thinks of everything we humans face. God defends, fights, hears, and shields us while showering us with compassion, justice and blessings, and keeps us from shame. What a God we have.

What does this word mean to us? We are familiar with the one in our church who preaches the Word. But listen to how Ephesians addresses our concerns this way. We may not think we are equipped, but God has other ideas. God gives us, by grace, the ability to share the Word with others wherever and however He calls us. Imagine listening for that Divine call, and answering it in whatever way God intends. Acts helps ease our angst. We need only listen for His call.

And listen to Luke This is exciting!! However, the WORD remains the same. How awesome that we get to share it. Thank you God for your faith and trust in us. Most have attended several over time. They can be exciting, meaningful, and even sometimes the very thing that can bring a broken family together. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The gift is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call. Take a moment to think about the magnitude of this scripture. Receive the Holy Spirit!! Great gift!! Even a better gift!! Wow, and wow!! It gets better. All in the precious name of Jesus the Christ. It should be preceded by repentance, which simply means change. It is turning from our sin and selfishness to serve the Lord.

With such purpose of heart God will open His Word to us. We are called — so listen for that call!!!! And when it comes, answer. That call is filled with hope, protection, forgiveness, salvation, filling of the Holy Spirit, and a closer walk with Jesus, not only for us, but for our children and those far off. What a deal!!! Our God is a great loving God. We are truly blessed. Thank you for this generous, fabulous opportunity.

You are our one true God. Do they exist? What do you think? Movies and TV portray them. Songs are written about them. They are in our jewelry and decorations. They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. To guard us!! We inherit salvation when we believe in Jesus. Such protection!! In Matthew they had the privilege and awesome ability to attend to Jesus in His time of need. When Satan tried to tempt Jesus this is how He responded. What does God say about them? He has written, instructed, and informed us of these fabulous beings He has provided for our well being.

Make the way clear for us to experience your heavenly gift. Dictionary definition of WORSHIP — the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity, praise, thanksgiving, exalting, homage. Who or what do we pay homage or exalt with thanksgiving and praise?

Later in life we may exalt and praise a mate or someone who has created an unimaginable product, painting or music. His voice was a gift given to the world by God Himself. Sometimes a General of a grand army is payed homage in life and even into death. Then there are those such as Shirley Temple who are adored and held in high esteem. And we, the receivers of these heavenly gifts, get to enjoy and feel close to the Almighty gift giver.

To Him be the glory forever. We owe Him all honor and praise. There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. For You are great and do marvelous deeds; You alone are God. Now this is someone to exalt, praise and pay homage to. Our God is devoted, faithful, merciful, our protector, and is trustworthy. His love for us endures forever. Monica Guiza from Queretaro, Mexico.

A practice of surrender is incredibly powerful and I am so happy to hear you have found it. Jess, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope your nephew now has the peace he longed for in his life on Earth. I am sending you love and light in your time of grief. Know that you are guided and supported and loved. Please let me know if there are any specific resources you need and struggle to find. Over the past year your words and resources have helped so much to guide my own process of surrender…I am forever grateful!

For me, the addition is negative self-talk, which I cultivated as a child. With that said, once in the room, it was the spiritual surrender part of Al-Anon that really got me….. I realized I was SO scared and resistant to let go and let God. I saw it as a weakness. For a period, I had to step away from Al-Anon to process my block through meditation, journaling, bodywork etc. Stop looking for others to approve of your belief or not. It felt like a sign from God. Sending you love and light as you continue your journey too! YES, my friend. Thank you so so much for sharing your truth.

I am blown away by your faith. Your belief is everything. Such juicy resources here. Thank you for being a light and for doing the work to pave the way for us all! Sending you love sister. Congratulations Gabby! You have helped me the most. Thank you so much for your honesty, bravery, encouragement, and tools of action. This process has been a wild ride. I just came home from a family wedding where I needed to be in the presence of family members who physically and verbally abused me as a child.

I was able to be in their presence sober, full of compassion, empathy, and divine light. I forgave them and chose love. Without confronting the past, I would have never embarked on this spiritual journey so I thank them for the role they played in pushing my growth. And I thank you for the wisdom, insight, and tools to help me approach such events.

Congrats again — you give us all a reason to celebrate. I honor you for the incredible work you have done and your commitment to following divine guidance. Expect many more miracles, my friend. Thank you for sharing. I am releasing unhealthy relationships….. Worrying about what other people think of me, primarily men, not setting healthy boundaries with them due to childhood issues with my father. I am learning to release this fear of not being enough in the eyes of men, knowing that God is in control and releasing those fears that are holding me back.

Meditation and diving into my work as a spiritual life coach has really grounded me as well as taking your Spirit Junkie Masterclass! Blessings, Tracey. Tracey, I am right there with you. I have been relating to men in an unhealthy way for years. It sounds like you are on a good path to letting go of this pattern. Keep up your spiritual practices, and take baby steps. I was on an unhealthy relationship with myself and damaging self beliefs. I can still remember looking into the mirror at my own eyes barely recognising the reflection of the girl staring back, hating what I was, I was gone.

Always speaking to what I now know as my inner voice I had to change. I always knew who I am was inside just how do find her. Reiki works for me and has completely changed my life. Now when I look closely at myself I absolutely love what I see And I can stare for as long as necessary whispering how amazing, strong, determined, happy even beautiful I look. With Gratitude you are your books and guidance are part of the plan. Since discovering your online meditations only a couple of weeks ago, I have devoured all that I can on your website as I truly connect to the message of hope you are spreading.

You have inspired me to practice daily and increase my connection to the divine through meditation, prayer and yoga. I have set up my own alter where I pray and reflect and am also enjoying my journaling journey! Blessings and thanks to you for the love and light that you share. Thank you for sharing, Ami. You are guided and supported. Stay committed to your practices and expect miracles. Happy Birthday.

I have followed your spiritual teachings and meditations as part of my recovery practice. When I started trying to look into prayer and meditation to improve my conscious contact with God as I understood him many of your books and information began to appear as part of my willingness to learn more and grow spiritually. I have started to a new phase in my life. I have retired from teaching and am working on getting over the toxic atmosphere and a extreme verbal abuse. I have started meditation everyday, affirmations, grateful lists, etc.

You were on my email and I read and practiced what you were telling us. Thank you for sharing, Roberta. Stay committed to your practices and incredible shifts will occur. Hello Gabby, I have followed you for about a year, the universe brought you to me when I needed you most and I will forever be grateful for that.

I met you at Kripalu for the Goddess retreat in February during a very dark time in my life and you were very inspiring. The things I have learned from your spiritual journey have greatly influenced my own. I admire your intense faith and see how you are being true to your soul. Thank you for fearlessly sharing your light with us. I hope to be able to help others as you have helped me. Sincerely, Colette. Thank you, Gabby for all your amazing work. This meditation is what I need to help me break through all the anger and pain that I have because of my abusive childhood. I did not realise how much these emotions were holding me back.

Thank You so much.

I am so honored that it has helped you. Continue to practice it whenever you need it or even daily. I am reading a few of your books right now Gabby and trying to apply as much of your advice as I can to my life. I am meditating daily, connecting with the Universe and asking for guidance. I try to start each day with setting some intentions and I am finding a new peace in my life since I have been working on my spiritual growth. Thank you so much Gabby. I am rebuilding my life and eliminating negative patterns. This could not have come at a better time for me! Thank you so much for sharing!

As the first post stated, I too feel Kundalini meditation may be too advanced for me but I am going to give it a try. My question to you is, what if you have an addiction that you know you need to give up but yet not sure you truly want to? I can clearly see how it is limiting me and negatively effecting my life but it is still hard to let go. I know its not worth what I am giving up but in my case it has become a long term habit which seems so hard to change.

I have been hearing that same voice for over a year now. Connecting with universe and an increase in clarity is more important to me than Alcohol or smoking. I have just started over the last 4 days working on this. I am also going to stop smoking. Any advice on this? Jamie, I honor you for sharing and for your willingness to change.

I recommend finding a Step group in your community. You can do this on aa. For help with quitting smoking, the Smokefree. You may also find support through quitting smoking with EFT. You can see my video on how I handled sugar cravings with EFT. I am sending you love and light on your path.

Jamie, I too once struggled with both of those, smoking and alcohol. In fact, just a few days ago was my anniversary for putting cigarettes down 4 yeas ago; seems like For me, for smoking, I picked a date and then owned it. October 1st was my date. Did I ever take another drag? Maybe a couple times the first month.

I quit drinking for 6 months to keep my intentions alert and assertive. I prayed daily for God to take the desire to drink away from me. I prayed for guidance and strength. I envisioned myself as a non smoker and sober. I believe that drinking and druging, and other things like sex addiction, poor choices, bad relationships, etcetera—those are Symptoms of the real issues within us and our lives.

You have to tackle the issues beneath and go deep to resolve the symptoms. I honestly wish I could adopt him. Anyway, when you introduced the envelopes this past Sunday he and his mom were the first people that popped into my mind. It is a delicate balance being a teacher. When I spoke to her this morning about the letter she said it brought her to tears. She works about 10, jobs to make ends meet and she just happened to deliver food to the church band last night. So if you put our notes together you will get the picture. I am just glad God chose her.

She is so deserving. What a fun and meaningful way of spreading Christmas joy. She asked if we had childcare. She said that is funny because when she visits family in Florida they have donuts at the church they go to, so her son is used to that. NOTE: the recipient of this act of kindness wrote us a four page letter of heartfelt thanks explaining their situation and what a blessing this had been. I hope it will help them have a good meal! The kids have been in and out of school and every year have struggle with attendance and structures.

The family is currently on food stamps, literally driving a family car where you can see a hole through the floor. Funds are scarce and there is not enough income to cover the daily functioning or upkeep of the household. The gift card will go towards purchasing food and other necessities for the family. This work is more important than ever and we are very grateful for the chance to support it this season. My neighbor sponsors several families through the Ulman Foundation, who supports young families affected by cancer. We helped sponsor a family that lives in Edgewater, MD.

The father, is a military veteran who was medically retired due to combat-related disabilities stemming from his time in Iraq. His wife is a cancer survivor but they recently found out that her husband has metastatic cancer with many tumors in his stomach and lungs. He is currently unable to work and they have three children 7, 9, I was able to purchase all of this below for the two girls, ages 7 and 9.

They each got two outfits, socks, hats, gloves, and hair accessories. I know this will help them out and put smiles on the kids faces. Thanks for giving us this opportunity to help. The circumstances of what initiated this attack are not known but little Camden was bitten in several places on his face and neck. The doctors said he is very fortunate to be alive, as one bite was just 2 inches from a major artery.

His parents had just lost a baby earlier this year and the thought of losing their son was just unbearable for them and all of us. They have been through a very difficult year. The thought of this sweet baby going through this horrific experience is just so heartbreaking. He is a cousin to our little grandson who lives with us. They, as well as a third little cousin, were all born within 3 weeks of each other. We are hopeful that this generous donation, which my husband and I also matched, will help out with doctor bills, medicine or anything they need to help make him feel comfortable and happy.

God bless them. We have seen how it has changed her life adding great challenges. We hope that this donation helps them to find better treatments and ultimately a cure. I was shopping in Home Goods today, and overheard a phone conversation that a woman in the next aisle was having. She was telling someone about a friend who had lost everything in a house fire and was really struggling.

She immediately began to cry, telling me that her friend, his wife, and 90 year old mother were now homeless and trying to salvage a few mementos from the ashes of their home. She described him as a faithful Christian and someone who had been like an older brother to her throughout her life. She was so grateful, that she immediately called him to tell him about the gift, which she intended to drop off as soon as she left the store. I never got her name, but she asked for my name and the name of the church so that thanks could be sent.

NOTE: We did, in fact, get a very grateful phone call from this woman the next day. The fund helps support Financial Advisors and Branch office Administrators that have been affected by the fires in Southern California. Several of them has lost their homes or their offices they work at. We also sent in a donation to the preschool. Do love this! Thanks for your encouragement and allowing this to happen! I did not originally intend on taking the money this morning.

But last night there was a posting on Facebook that changed my mind and I knew I needed to participate. Facebook can be positive in that we at least have some connection with them. Their son had posted a picture of a Christmas tree all decorated and lit up.

He was thanking his Mom for providing the tree because he was not going to be able to provide his two small boys with a Christmas this year. He is going through a rough time. So this money will help with whatever else this family needs. We will match the dollars as well. Feeling blessed to be a blessing! Send them to ron severnaparkumc. I have had the privilege of volunteering with ASP for five years and each year it is such an eye-opening experience. One of the most amazing parts of this trip is having the opportunity to interact with and really get to know the home owners.

They are such amazing people who never seem to take anything for granted. After more thought and input from my family, I decided to send this money along with a letter explaining where it came from to the most recent family I served on ASP. The owner of the home was a single mother with three children. She was usually at work during the day but always found time to talk to us when she was home.

They were very grateful for everything we were able to do but there was clearly more that could be done. I know this money will go a long way for her and her family. She feels unsafe living in Baltimore city, which is where she has been living. The little boy we had been caring for returned to live with his mother in the city earlier in the year. My son is in the Air Force and has enjoyed the hospitality of the USO airport centers as he is traveling.

They provide a clean, safe place to rest between flights as well as food and drink. Not part of the federal government, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities, and is powered by a family of volunteers to accomplish our mission of connection. There are USO centers at or near military installations across the United States and throughout the world, including in combat zones, and even un-staffed USO service sites in places too dangerous for anyone but combat troops to occupy.

I am very grateful of all the services the USO provides to our soldiers. It is nice to know that wherever they go, the USO will be there to support my son and his fellow service members. Feeling called to help the helpless, this family has rescued, fostered, or placed in new homes, over animals in the last 30 years.

The mission of Hodgepodge Pets is to be good stewards of the animals placed in their care and to the people of the community whom they serve. They focus on rescuing, fostering and placing animals for adoption, senior-pet pairing, and help for our military families facing a pet-related crisis. They carefully screen all potential adopters and do not charge an adoption fee. Hodgepodge Pets is working to have programs to foster more pets for military families during training or deployments, and to pair overlooked, hard to place, older pets with senior citizens.

They would also like to offer pet therapy for at-risk teens and those suffering from PTSD. Their dream is to not only continue with their rescue work, but to expand to bless even more people and pets. For more info you can go to their Facebook page or website. My wife and I prayed for guidance as to who should be blessed with this gift. Then we saw a newscast about the Helping Up Mission and knew this was our sign to give to this cause. As a former Executive Director of the MD Child Support Enforcement Administration, I was reminded how impressed I was with this organization and how happy our organization was to help Helping Up Mission residents resolve their child support issues.

What impressed me the most was the inclusion of a spiritual component to the recovery process. What better place to direct the SPUMC gift than to an organization that guides their residents through a recovery process that includes a spiritual connection? Please keep up the great work and we pray for your continued success. We consider one of the side benefits of this project is causing people to take time to think of different ways they can volunteer and ways they can improve the community in which we live. Together, we can restore men fighting addiction and homelessness, so they can lead productive, responsible lives.

I was able to deliver this gift to a very deserving young woman who has recently become a single mother with 2 children and is struggling to make ends meet. She is working and looking for additional jobs. The look of wonder on her face and the tears in her eyes said it all. She was overwhelmed and oh, so grateful! Thank you for giving us this opportunity to be part of this ministry. Thank you to the wonderful person who was so very generous by giving money to so many people to spread kindness, love, and joy to so many others in our world this Christmas. It was not as easy as I thought it would be to choose just the right way to spend the money.

I did as so many others had done. I went to the internet to research the best organizations who use their money in ways that do the most for the good of the people depending on them. As a cancer survivor and a leader of a cancer support group, God led my heart to St. Gianna was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer which was everywhere in her body except her bones and brain prior to her second birthday. Cancer is a very frightening disease for adults; but, it must be even worse for a child. There are strangers doIng painful things to their bodies, in scary hospitals that are noisy and smelly.

The children and their families are treated with kindness and love. Thank you to who ever allowed me to give the gift of love to this wonderful hospital in the hopes of helping other children. These people sleep year around in tents that form a make-shift community under bridges. They appear to lack many hygiene and healthcare benefits. The struggles of these individuals sadden us and we wish for their recovery. Going to the Longest Night Vigil was a great experience, and it really opened my eyes to the situation of homeless people in Annapolis and our county.

It felt really good to make the leader of the Winter Relief program so happy. Mary lives in Baltimore and is an active member of St. We were sharing stories about our churches, and she had some funny stories to tell about being one of the youngest members in her church she is about 50! They also hold fundraisers and offer all sorts of other support like job placement, sobriety support, etc. I am assured that the group has walkers as well as runners, so I hope that is true!! They had 2 young daughters and a newborn son. The mother had mentioned that her baby son had hardly any clothes to wear since only some of the hand-me-downs from his sisters would work.

My mother and I both planned to ask around for hand-me-down boys clothes. The family was very appreciative! The baby items were donated to an organization that supports young mothers in need. Both families wanted to use the money for groceries. My family volunteered last Saturday to help prepare and serve a holiday meal to the homeless this is through the Happy Helpers organization.. Needless to say, she was beyond happy and grateful.

The daughter is a student at Thomas Viaduct Middle School in Howard County where my wife works and heard about this family. I successfully synched up with one of the teachers at SP Middle School who had a mother and son that are in need of assistance. I was blown away. When Sherri called the woman to let her know, she started crying and was very thankful. I also was informed by my teenage son that he too grabbed an envelope and had been trying to figure out what to do with it on his own. Thank you for the opportunity. After taking an envelope, our family discussed ideas about how we use the money.

The idea was each person could take a bag for themselves and an extra to share. Adding to the whole mid day event was Chris and his holiday carolers and a very healthy support crew led by Chip. I took one of the envelopes and right away knew of a student I could help who is living in poverty. My fourth grade teammate and I took him shopping for a new outfit sweatshirt, pants, socks, underwear, and shoes , toy to open on Christmas and a gift for him to give to each of his parents.

He had such an amazing time and kept saying how it was the best day of his life. He came in the next day dressed in his new outfit with a big smile on his face. After shopping we took him to grab some dinner and brought him home. His parents were very appreciative and kept thanking us for doing something so kind for their son.

Thank you for allowing us to spread joy and giving in a personal way. Our gift will support a cell phone so he can talk with his father and sister. I prayed about this, since I know others contributed to organizations, but I wanted to help — and the cell phone need had not been funded by Bowie.

So do we! Here is what the pastor, Rev. Margaret Clemons, wrote to her church recently about this outreach:. As the year ends, we reflect on the miracles and blessings God has given us, even as we prepare our hearts for new possibilities of grace God has yet to give.

I would like to share a miracle which Bowie UMC was given. The miracle is a young man from Africa. He came to this country because that government wanted him dead. His pastor helped smuggle him out of his country.

The 5 Spiritual Tools I Use in My Sober Recovery {2018 Update}

In his country, he had seen many of his friends and family, including his own mother, murdered. Coming to this country, knowing no one, he admits to times of feeling such despair that he prayed God would take him to his eternal home. We were able to get him a safe place to live because a good Christian couple opened their hearts and home. He had to leave his father and younger sisters and recently found out that they, too, are now refugees, but now are safe. I hope you will have an opportunity to get to know this amazing young man. He has blessed us more than we have blessed him.

Please keep him in prayer as he discerns his future, awaits asylum yes, he is here legally , and grows in faith. Through grace by faith, God led him to us. By grace through faith, God has opened our hearts a bit wider, given us eyes to see with new vision the world at large and allowed us to experience how faith can sustain us even when we think all is lost. My granddaughter Mattie, 12 years old, has a huge passion for helping people with a need. As expected, the idea sparked great discussion at our dinner table. Mattie really wanted to see if we could help a family from her school.

Sure enough, the principal told us there are several families who could use the gift for Christmas for their kids. We did not get the particulars, but she assured us that the family she had in mind would truly benefit from the gift. That was all we needed to know. I am writing to share the good news for our Intentional Act of Kindness. The generous gift by our church donor is helping hundreds of folks in our communities. When I read that the church was giving money for people to use as an Intentional Act of Kindness I misread the announcement and thought that it read International Act of Kindness.

I decided right then that I would get that money for his cause. This meant I would take the time to learn about the organization, get to know more about my new nephew-to-be, and donate the money to the organization he is very passionate about. Believe Guatemala is a non-profit, Christian organization, which seeks to empower and educate families in poverty stricken communities in Guatemala City. They believe God wants more for His people and that He calls us to be a part of His restoration process.

They have a newly built Restoration Center that serves over 1, families in a community at the City Dump by providing educational programs, Bible studies, community outreach, and leadership training. After attending church the next week, I realized it was not limited to being international LOL and my heart was pulled to look for a local organization to support.

I wrestled with this for several weeks. This morning when I woke up it was clear. So many lives are affected by addiction and I have a particularly close friend who has lived in many group homes in the 4 years that I have known him. Helping Up Mission provides men fighting addiction and homelessness with comprehensive recovery services, including: Meals, shelter, clothing, and other basic needs,Spiritual development, classes, and counseling that change hearts, integrated healthcare, education, workforce training, and life skills.

This is his second time at this particular mission. They offer many services and I pray that this time his heart will be permanently changed to give him the strength to stay clean for himself, his daughter and his whole family. In the last five months I have seen him stay clean, quit smoking, and start exercising. He appears to have a new attitude this time and I pray this is so. So what did I do? I multiplied the gift. I have agreed to support a child named Rosa in Guatemala on a monthly schedule and have also begun to donate monthly to Helping Up Mission in Baltimore as well.

I pray that God will bless these donations to do his work. As devout Christians, they chose not to aggressively treat the cancer due to the probable effect on the new fetus. The local business where she had been working has rallied around the family and have provided presents for all 8 of the children. Hope in eternal life is wonderful, but what a joy to give someone hope for their day to day life here! The money was going to be used to provide basic needs to formerly homeless women. They went on to explain that the doctrine of the Salvation Army is based on the teachings of John Wesley.

To me this task was daunting. The first 2 servants did a great job of making a profit for him while the 3 rd one just buried his money and did nothing with it. After praying on this for over a week, the same name kept coming to me, a friend who is going through a horrific divorce with 2 children. Her husband has been abusive, but she continues to smile, never bad mouths the man, continues to work to feed her children, and keep the family together in a loving relationship. I know she is having trouble with bills as she is paying for everything right now, but she keeps forging ahead.

She does have a strong faith and that is helping her to keep a smiling face and strong belief that things might just work out in her favor. But whatever she chooses, I know it will light up her spirits, lighten her load, help her children, and give her the hope she needs during this season of abandonment and debt. There was a lady at work that I know who is very loving and kind but really does not make very much money. I saw her crying at her desk one evening as I was about to leave and I walked over to her.

I got a wheelchair and took her over to the hospital where she was treated for a gallbladder attack. I kept praying about this for two weeks and asking the Holy Spirit if there was someone else we should consider but I could never get her out of my mind. I chose to give it to a friend who is suffering from financial troubles and she was very grateful. Well that is exactly what happened to me a few weeks ago. My friend Joe and I were having a look at the historic Shot Tower in Baltimore on a Sunday afternoon with plans for dinner after when I noticed that there was a sizable group of homeless folks hanging out in front of St.

Vincent De Paul Church. God seemed to say why not get some pizzas for everyone and sit out on the church steps and have a meal with these folks. The thought pulled me hard but not enough to act immediately. The opportunity to share Gods love was lost and I knew it immediately — that thought returned a couple times later that evening but was soon eclipsed by the fast pace of life.

We ordered the pizzas online and waited for the delivery out in front of the church and began to chat with one of the local residents named Mark. When we told one of the residents that we had ordered Dominoes pizza he said jokingly that it had been so long since Dominoes had delivered anything to that neighborhood that he thought they went out of business.

I started to worry that he may be right since they were already 30 minutes late ;-. We got out the water and Orange Crush and immediately realized that the soda was much preferred over water and the crowd quickly took charge of distribution in a surprisingly fair way making sure everyone got a can. Not long after, the pizza showed up and again the residents helped distribute the pizza to everyone and Joe and I grabbed a slice and began to break bread with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

I told one resident about the generous donation to SPUMC that made this possible and he was touched and very grateful since it turns out that they never get pizza and most folks that bring them food and supplies just drop things off and rarely stick around to share a meal. Joe and I hung out until most of the pizza was gone. The residents then cleaned up the trash as best they could and thanked us again. As Joe and I drove out of Baltimore that night with a bit of a chill from the cold night there was the warmth, too, that seems hard to describe — perhaps it is the gentle pat on the heart from our Father for being about His business and spending time with His other kids.

I knew then as I know now that I gained more then we gave that night.

Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to the donors whose faith made this amazing experience possible! Mom was living in Baltimore city with the 3 younger children and her mother, who was helping to pay for the apartment. Her mother, however, has a drug addiction and started using again recently, causing her to lose her job. Without her income to help pay the bills, the family was evicted. She was receiving assistance from SPAN and was starting a job training program.

He was such an eager learner, so incredibly happy to come to school and see us every day, and a great example for our other students. It was truly a blessing to be around him! My co-worker and I wanted so badly to help this family! I thought the gift of letting them shop for food any food they wanted! Please keep this little family in your prayers! We have a shelter dog and cat that have brought us so much joy over the years. In our family, the animals are just like our children. What a great experience this act of kindness has been.

I invited her to join us one Sunday morning to participate in a worship service. I know all the dogs and cats will be eating well, soon! They are also collecting items that these ladies can use to fill the purses with. I collected my purses and bought some supplies to donate. When I spoke with the director last week, she said that she had around purses and not nearly enough supplies.

This kind woman is taking her time each weekend to drive around Baltimore and personally hand the purses out! I knew right away that I would use this money to buy items to donate. Things like soap, shampoo, maxi pads, antibacterial cloths, etc. I feel blessed to be able to contribute and hopefully make a small difference in their lives. This has been an eye-opening and soul-searching experience for me. Thank you for injecting something so real and meaningful into this Advent season.

The ripple effect will certainly be far-reaching and impactful, not only to the recipients of the donations, but also in the hearts to all who were privileged to take part. As a teenager, I once worked as a waitress and found it one of the toughest jobs I ever had.

So I decided I wanted to give this money, along with a note, to a hardworking waitress. We knew a lot of the servers at the two places we most often go, and I just trusted that God would put us at the right table, the one with the person He wanted me to give my envelope to. I had placed the cash inside a Christmas card with a note that I had been asked to pass this money on as a blessing for someone, and that I had chosen her.

I also said that I hoped that beyond the money, that she would be blessed by feeling the love of Christ though this gift all throughout this holiday season, and I thanked her for doing her job so well. I put it with the paid bill as we left the restaurant so I have no idea how it was received, but I hope that this young lady was both surprised and happy.

I wrote her name on the envelope and I do hope she feels noticed, valued and at least a little special. I hope it made the rest of her shift a little easier. The funny thing though is that I spent most of the week searching for a new opportunity beyond the Angel Tree at church to purchase Christmas gifts for a child — I really wanted to find a child at a less fortunate area school that had expressed a need.

Nothing specific presented itself and then I had the waitress idea, so I was all set to go with that. Then this morning, as I was checking Facebook before leaving for church, I found that opportunity I was looking for. All the fun toys for the young kids had been assigned. Well, I knew that these older kids needed things too, and I could help, so I signed up for a bunch of items on that list to provide.

That was a great lesson, I think we should always be in that mode, always on the lookout for who God may place in our path , and for things He calls us to do. I am praying that my vision is bigger and broader, and I can see people more as Jesus sees them. I am so grateful to belong to this church, to be part of a community that is so loving and giving. All of you make me a better person. Merry Christmas!! That was fun!!

He lives with his single mom who asked for help this holiday season with getting a few gifts for her son. Since chemotherapy is not an option for Kevin, he uses dietary and other non-conventional holistic healing methods to prevent the tumor from growing. We purchased a pair of snow pants, gloves, and hat for him to be able to enjoy playing in the snow. Seeing them give to others is rewarding for all. The handful of times we came I honestly told my wife like I felt like the church spoke too much about money. I thought and prayed about how I thought this money would be best spent.

My aunt put a post on Facebook about how money you donate to certain causes actually goes directly to the cause. The next day I received a letter in the mail asking me to donate to St. I just put the donation in the mailbox tonight and feel this may help a child in need. I have been praying God would direct me in who to share this gift with. At this time of year their are so many in need.

I just felt it was meant for one individual but, I did not know who it was. Yesterday, I was speaking to a very dear friend of mine and he shared with me the difficultly one of his relatives was going through. It is a heart breaking story, the minute he finished the story, I know this is where God wanted me to help. Here is a bit of the story:. They were raised by the grandmother. Later in life she married but, it was not a happy marriage and she was left alone again. They did have a son together but, he, too, was a major disappointment later in life, when he began to steal whatever he could from his mother.

She did find a job that gave her a great deal of satisfaction and helped her pay the bills, She worked as a nursing assistant and would sit with dying people in their home or nursing homes. Due to some health issues and back problems, she had to stop working. Two weeks ago she developed pneumonia and went to the ER for help. They admitted her for observation and while she was there she had a major heart attack. During the procedure, they nicked the aorta and she had a major bleed that required another procedure. She is still in the hospital and hopes to be released later this week. The Doctors have advised her to apply for Disability and not return to work, but this will take a while.

She lives alone in a small, run-down apartment in Cincinnati. She only has one relative that lives close by. She is feeling very lonely and has many concerns on how she will survive. My dear friends are leaving on Thursday to drive to Cincinnati to be with her when she is discharged and try to help get her back to health. They will be taking this gift of love to her.

Please keep her in your prayers and share with whoever you can. I believe God will give her strength and help her through this very difficult time. I stopped in to see what it was about, where I met Ron Phipps who gave me a tour. It was a busy day — volunteers sorting and packing items in boxes donated by McDonalds. They collect and ship supplies — clothing, tools, school materials, bikes, sewing machines, etc — to locations around the world, requested by pastors at those locations. Places such as India, China, and wherever disaster strikes in the US. Many years ago, OGT started shipping grain from Nebraska overseas for orphan kids.

I decided to match the gift and pay it forward. I reviewed the Doctors Without Borders website and learned about the good work they are doing to save lives all over the world. I was moved by the many poor and suffering people especially kids you never see on the evening news, that really need help.

But I know others will benefit who really need help. I am glad to participate. Lo and behold a few years later, they did have a child of their own, and now have a total of four young daughters. He and his family recently moved into their own home, and though he take pride in finally owning a house, the financial responsibility has been a bit draining.

I know the monetary gift will bless them during this Christmas season. He was so appreciative and grateful for the gift. I shared my hundred dollars with a friend who is facing many challenges: she has had open heart surgery, is dealing with a severely shattered foot and recently her grown son lost his job, separated from his wife and moved back in with her. She is also helping to raise her grandchild. What a wonderful and kind project this is. Prayers to the givers of this act of kindness that made this possible.

This weekend as we traveled to Pittsburgh for a family event, we stopped at Bob Evans to have breakfast and met Linda, our server. When we asked her, she told us that she was almost ready for Christmas. Linda shared with us that her family, including15 grandchildren would be visiting with her for Christmas and she told her children they would not be getting much for Christmas.

After our meal, I approached Linda and told her that we had a tradition of giving during the holiday season and that we wanted to help make her holiday a little brighter. Our daughters were in worship the Sunday the Intentional Acts of Kindness mission was announced and they were SO excited to participate!

When we got home from worship, we sat around our dining room table and talked about how we could be intentional with this great gift of love and generosity. We listed about 5 or 6 things, then picked two: First, we decided to go to a local grocery store, go into one of the checkout lines, and offer to pay for groceries for someone who really needed it. We prayed about this choice and sat with it for awhile. Then, the Holy Spirit nudged my husband one morning when he was on vacation from work. He went to the window and watched them hard at work picking up hundreds of bags of leaves.

My husband said the worker laughed with both shock and delight, kept saying thank you and ran back to the truck to finish his work. My husband has gotten to know a family there, due to his work, really well. The mother is a single mother doing her best to make ends meet for her two children. As a result, her son has missed out on the joy and wonder of Christmas and the true meaning it holds.

Recently, I had a dentist appointment. The dental hygienist and I were talking and she shared that her mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She shared her sadness, concern, and fear that her mother may not be well enough to attend her wedding next month. The hygienist also shared concern about her spiritual journey and members of her family who do not see the need in knowing God or attending worship.

I talked with her and shared some of my own faith journey, and reassured her God holds it all and works everything for our good — no matter what it may look like. Thank you for talking with me.
